Summize, the AI-powered platform that lets companies manage contracts with greater clarity, today announced Alexandria Lutz as its first General Counsel. Lutz joins Summize as it continues to grow rapidly following its recent $50 million funding round. She will serve as principal legal advisor to the executive leadership team, shape company and product strategy, partner with commercial teams, and support customers as they innovate with AI.
As AI reshapes how companies manage contracts and legal work, Lutz brings significant legal experience in privacy, cybersecurity and AI governance to her new role at Summize. Most recently, she served as Senior Corporate Counsel at Nordstrom, where she advised on data protection, AI adoption and emerging technology across the business. She has also held in-house legal roles at a national hospitality company and an international food services organization.
“Lexi brings strong experience in privacy, AI governance, and cybersecurity, along with a clear understanding of the challenges legal teams face today,” said Tom Dunlop, CEO and co-founder of Summize. “As companies adopt AI across the business, contracts hold valuable data and intelligence that teams can act on. Lexi understands both the legal and technology sides of this shift. Our commitment to helping customers navigate this more effectively, while building a community around shared ideas and real-world use cases, is where Lexi and her experience can deliver a truly meaningful impact.”
In addition to her extensive legal and privacy expertise, Lutz is a frequent industry educator and speaker. She is a certified Information Privacy Professional in the U.S. and Europe and is active with the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Boston Bar Association, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
“What drew me to Summize is its modern approach to contract management and how it helps companies fit agreements into the way they actually operate,” said Lutz. “Traditional CLM systems can take months or up to a year to implement, which slows adoption and productivity. Summize is part of a new generation of contract technology that enables teams to unlock the value of their contract data across the entire business. It reflects where the legal industry is headed as in-house teams implement AI in a responsible and confident way while creating efficiencies across their work.”
Summize is an AI-native CLM that does not ask teams to change how they work. It lives natively within the tools they already use, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Gmail, Teams, Slack, HubSpot, Salesforce, and Jira. Summize brings contract intelligence directly into the moments that matter without disruption, enabling company-wide adoption, usability and real business impact.
